About Me

Why I do what I do

I haven’t always been passionate about natural health. I spent my younger years destroying my gut and liver health with poor food and drink choices, without any real knowledge of what it felt like to be healthy. I think that is a big problem for a lot of people - they are so used to experiencing discomfort, pain and illness that they don’t realise that it isn’t normal to feel like that.

I had a big wake up call when my first child was 9 months old. I woke to find her having a seizure. An ambulance ride, month long hospital stay and scary diagnosis later, we were sent home with some medication, dodgy dietary advice and a beautiful little girl who was entirely our responsibility to keep safe and well.

My little girl had been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that could potentially affect every organ and system in her body, and see her spending a lot of time in hospital throughout her life. There was a possibility she’d have mental and physical developmental delays, and that she may never go through puberty naturally.

I am incredibly grateful to the doctors and medical system that kept my daughter alive and well while we figured out what was going on in her body, but when my questions about nutrition - asked because one of her major presenting symptoms was an issue of blood sugar control - were dismissed with a strange look and advice to keep jelly beans on hand in case of a blood sugar crash, I felt that something big was missing from the advice I had received.

What followed was years of trial, error and research into how what we ate influenced how our bodies work. My first stop was the book ‘Nourishing Traditions’ by Sally Fallon, which told stories of how we used to eat before food became an industry, and how the way in which we prepare food dramatically changes how our bodies receive it.

My daughter and I embarked on a way of eating that would change all of our lives in ways we could not have imagined. The change in my daughter’s health was immediately obvious, and she went on to grow into a bright, intelligent healthy girl. She never had to stay in hospital after that first time, and rarely even gets sick. She was pronounced ‘cured’ at 8 years old, taken off her medication, and continues to thrive in every way.

Interestingly, even though I didn’t think I was unwell in any way, the change in diet made a massive difference to my health too. My problem skin cleared up, I began to sleep well for the first time ever, I no longer got migraines on a regular basis, and when I ate food, my gut didn’t hurt - I never knew it wasn’t normal!

While nutrition was a big player in getting my daughter and myself healthy, kinesiology played a big part in all this too. We would hit problems - physical issues or behaviours - things that for no obvious reason we couldn’t move through. Coming across kinesiology, quite by accident, was a revelation. Problems that weren’t resolving no matter what food we were eating, or how many hugs we were giving, were suddenly resolved when a stuck emotion was identified and released, or some other kind of block was identified and addressed.

So this is why do what I do. I not only witnessed first hand the changes in my child’s health and wellbeing through nutrition and kinesiology, but experienced them myself, and when the time came to move into the next stage of my life (kids all at school!), I decided the best thing I could do was share these amazing gifts with the world.
